James is the founder and CEO of Trillium Technologies, an AI and space science contractor that specializes in the application of emerging technologies to grand challenges like climate change, prevention strategies for cancer and obesity, deforestation mitigation, climate resilience, and planetary defense from asteroids.

He is also the founder and director of the Frontier Development Lab in partnership with NASA and the SETI Institute in the United States and ESA and the University of Oxford in Europe., and of the Open Space Agency (OSA), which is dedicated to the exploration and democratization of space.
