Founder - The Outsiders Perspective
Jamie Gill BArch ACA is an advisor and consultant in the Fashion, Luxury and Retail sectors, and the Founder of The Outsiders Perspective, a not-for-profit platform that aims to increase representation in the Fashion and Luxury industries. He is an Executive Board Member of the British Fashion Council (BFC) and Chair of the BFC Diversity & Inclusion Committee, as well as the former CEO of Luxury Womenswear brand ROKSANDA, where he still serves as Executive Director.
With a non-traditional path into the Fashion industry, Jamie studied his bachelor’s degree in architecture at Nottingham University and relocated to London in the thick of the financial recession working for several design practices, before pivoting to a career in Finance, joining Deloitte London. Jamie worked in Consulting for 5 years, whilst studying his Chartered Accountancy, with a client portfolio spanning Luxury Goods to Real Estate. It was here where he witnessed LGBTQ+ Deloitte Partners leading international divisions, that he found the courage to come out as gay.
He then left the corporate world, to set-up a luxury apparel start-up targeted at the ever-growing Indian Bridal market, relocating to Mumbai, India. Designing, sampling, producing, selling, marketing, and fund-raising a new business provided Jamie with his real-life MBA.
Returning to London he joined an investment fund that focused on British Luxury Fashion, here he joined the board of ROKSANDA, before being made CEO in March 2018 at the age of 30. During his tenure, he restructured the business, delivering several improved business metrics, as well as launching global collaborations with Lululemon, Barbour and Fila. Since stepping down from his role as CEO, Jamie has worked as an advisor and consultant to global businesses in Fashion, Luxury and Retail, where he is able to bring his strategic business acumen and innovative perspective, to support differing scales of businesses identify routes to sustainable growth – a skillset which Jamie puts down to his non-traditional route into the industry.
In September 2020, he joined the Executive Board of the British Fashion Council to support the fight against prejudice and discrimination in the industry, becoming Chair of the BFC’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee in May 2022. In turn this led to Jamie founding The Outsiders Perspective in 2022, to bring change and fair representation to the industry, as well as provide a much needed business solution to support businesses attract talented People of Colour into their organisations – working with leading global brands such as Chanel, Farfetch Group, Burberry, Alexander McQueen and LuluLemon, as well as with the Major of London.
Jamie is passionate about mentorship and championing of emerging British brands on an international level, and sees fair representation as a key to positive change for the future.
