Karen Palmer is the Storyteller from the Future, an award winning XR creator and Futurist who explores the implications of A.I. and technology on societal structures and the impact of in-equality.
She does this by enabling participants to experience the future today, through her immersive film experiences.
She recently won the coveted SXSW XR Experience Competition at 2023 with Consensus Gentium, an emotionally responsive film designed to be experienced on a mobile phone. Set in a near future of surveillance and bias AI, the film watches you back, using artificial intelligence and facial recognition.

Karen is a TED Speaker and Thought Leader in A.I and the Future of Storytelling. Exhibitions include SXSW, the Future of Storytelling, ARS Electronica, The V&A, Phi, Museum of Modern Art Peru etc..
2020 she received Honorary Mention for the STARTS Prize ARS Electronica for Perception iO, an interactive film that integrated Artificial Intelligence that was emotionally responsive to the participant ’s potential bias. 2017 her RIOT installation was acknowledged as by the Digital Dozen Award.
