Mei-Yu Chang

Director - National Applied Research Laboratories

Dr. Chang joined NARLabs and started her journey on international cooperation from August, 2019. She took the position of Director in the International Affairs Office in May, 2022. Prior, she was a programme manager in National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) working on coordination and management of diverse scientific projects and disciplines, such as GIS and Ocean research, and also programs related to inter-discipline and cross-government sector issues. Her work at the moment was highly relevant to environment change, and has got the opportunity to attend United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 2013. Energy, scientific reports on climate change and ocean research, are the main concerned issues during the convention. 
Dr. Chang’s academic expertise is ocean research, marine ecology and geochemical oceanography, related to environment change. During her postdoctoral research, she joined the CalMarO project; Marie Curie Initial Training Network funded by the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme and was hosted by Department of Biology, University of Bergen, Norway and Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR), Germany. Climate change and Ocean acidification was the main topic that she worked on. In addition to the environment topics, Dr. Chang has also joined another European project, FishPopTrace, focusing on the four economic species in European water for fishery management.
