Ruma Bose is an executive, entrepreneur, impact investor, and best-selling author.

Ruma is currently the Chair of the 2023 CogX Festival, one of the world’s largest technology gatherings bringing together influential leaders in technology, business, government, science, the arts and academia from around the world to explore the biggest transformational opportunities of our time and address the question ‘How do we get the next 10 years right’


Ruma was most recently Chief Growth Officer (CGO) at Clearco, a SoftBank-backed fintech unicorn and the world’s largest e-commerce investor, which to date, has advanced $5 billion into 10,000 businesses globally including a far greater proportion of women-led businesses than traditional venture capital. She built and scaled Clearco’s international operations to 11 countries.

Previously, Ruma was on the management council of Chobani, one of the world’s largest yogurt companies, serving as President of Chobani Ventures and the Chobani Foundation, supporting organizations and entrepreneurs making better food for more people. As its Founding President she helped establish Tent Foundation as one of the leading foundations in the humanitarian sector, mobilizing the largest global network of private sector businesses committed to creating jobs for refugees.

Ruma authored the international bestseller, “Mother Teresa, CEO”, which has been translated into eight languages. The book describes the management and leadership principles of Mother Teresa, who Ruma worked with in Calcutta, and explains how they can be applied to businesses and non-profits alike.

Ruma sits on the main board of Calvert Impact Capital, a pioneer of impact investing, gender lens investing and climate impact, which in the last 25 years has deployed over $4bn in 100+ countries, and on the ESG External Advisory Board of KAO Corporation, the largest household and personal care product manufacturer in Japan with a $20B market cap and a footprint across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Ruma was the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Scotiabank Ethical Leadership Award which recognizes an ethical leader who, through their actions and decisions, has demonstrated character, courage, and adherence to ethical principles. In 2022, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from Dalhousie University, Canada, her alma mater.
