Andrew Hessel is a scientist, communicator, and investor exploring the future of biology and biotechnology. He is the co-founder and chairman of the Center of Excellence for Engineering Biology and the Genome Project-write, the international scientific effort to design and build large genomes including the human genome. He co-founded Humane Genomics, a developer of precision artificial viruses targeting cancer. His new book, The Genesis Machine: Our Quest to Rewrite Life in the Age of Synthetic Biology, co-authored with Amy Webb, was released in February 2022.
